Boil fresh drinking water and allow to cool to approx. 40–50°C.

Close the bottle and shake vigorously several times.
Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 37°C). Check the temperature.
Seal the bag securely, e.g., with a standard household clip. Use the tab in the lid to store the spoon.

* To avoid damaging the natural lactic acid cultures, please do not prepare the food with water that is too hot.

** Please refer to the recommendations on the packaging for the amount to drink and dosage.

How hot does the water need to be to dissolve the milk powder?

Please allow the boiled water to cool to approx. 40°–50 °C – this will happen faster if you place a measuring cup/bottle with boiled water in a cold water bath for a few minutes. Why 40°–50 °C? This temperature has proven to be optimal because the milk powder dissolves well and the natural lactic acid cultures and heat-sensitive vitamins are well protected.

How do I determine the right drinking temperature?

You can check the drinking temperature with the wrist test: Put a few drops of milk formula on the inside of your wrist. The temperature of the milk should feel comfortable—not too hot and not too cold. Alternatively, a thermometer can help.

Can I also prepare the milk formula in the microwave?

If the milk formula is prepared according to the instructions on the packaging, it is not necessary to heat it in the microwave, as the prepared bottle is already at drinking temperature.

Can I keep prepared milk formula warm?

For hygiene reasons, prepared milk formula should always be fed immediately. If your baby cannot finish their bottle straight away, only prepare a small amount of milk formula at first. If your baby then takes a break, you can prepare another small amount.

Storage

The contents of opened milk cartons should be used within 3 weeks. The foil bag guarantees optimum freshness and flavor protection. Milk formulas should generally be stored in a cool (at room temperature), dry place, protected from sunlight and away from strong-smelling substances or foods. For optimal storage, HiPP offers the practical HiPP milk box (free for BabyClub members).

Have you seen it yet? Our practical milk powder scoop

For hygiene reasons, milk formula should always be freshly prepared. With the practical HiPP milk powder scoop, this is very easy—even when you're on the go.

Measure one portion of milk powder into the container. Do you need a second portion? Then fill it into the attachment using a funnel. The inner lid separates the portions from each other.

When it's time to feed, you can simply add the milk powder portion to your bottle and prepare the meal as usual with boiled and cooled water.
